Support Seven Pillars

Dear Friends,

What does a Seven Pillars House of Wisdom gathering feel like? If you have joined us in person over the last few years, or your journey has intersected with ours in any way, perhaps you carry a memory of a particular sense of being. Most often we hear that our activities feel unlike anything else, that they have an exceptional depth and presence and that there is a feeling of connectedness, authenticity, mystery, worldliness and otherworldliness, of finding our way togethera resonant experience of emergent wisdom.

This felt sense is part of Seven Pillars’ distinctiveness. Over time, through trial, error, and growing success, our organizational identity has become increasingly defined and manifest. We now recognize that Seven Pillars is a unique mix of philosophy, school, and community. Our house of wisdom, rather than being geographically bound, lives and is being built inside each of us, and wherever we may gather. We are constructing a living being, one that counters the materialism, superficiality, and selfish interests of our time, and helps grow a movement of people faithful to a greater vision.

We are calling for a return to beauty, for an ethos where the natural world is honored and all of life is seen as sacred, where the inner life is as vital as the outer, and the underlying unity of existence is upheld. These are critical qualities at this time when we face the challenging state of our planet and the human condition, and are called to bring our resolve and creativity to find yet-to-be imagined answers.

We have recently shared a Seven Pillars Year-End Review highlighting our activities from the past year and plans for the future. Going forward into 2012, we will increasingly move into the public realm, offering more in-person gatherings, providing new interactivity online, and continuing to cultivate a community of heart and depth.

As 2011 comes to a close and you consider the nonprofits you care to support, please remember Seven Pillars. We are a small organization with only a person-and-a-half staff, and many amazing volunteers. Any amount, $25 to $2,500 or more, helps us enhance our Web presence, increase our outreach, develop and offer gatherings and events, and ultimately have a greater impact in the world.

As a gift to you, we offer a recent talk by Seven Pillars’ founder, Pir Zia Inayat-Khan, on “Agency and Beauty” from this summer’s Vanishing Art event.

All of us here send our gratitude, and wish you much joy and ease as we transition into a new year!

With warm affection,
