Wayne Teasdale
(1945-2004) was a lay monk, a Hindu sannyasa, a scholar, a teacher, a prolific writer, an activist, and a leader in the interfaith movement. He served on the board of the Parliament of World Religions, and with His Holiness the Dalai Lama founded the Synthesis Dialogues. As a member of the Monastic Interreligious Dialogue, Brother Wayne helped draft the Universal Declaration of Nonviolence. He also published numerous books, including The Mystic Heart: Discovering a Universal Spirituality in the World’s Religions, and A Monk in the World: Cultivating a Spiritual Life. Seven Pillars House of Wisdom is in part inspired by Brother Wayne’s vision. Wayne Teasdale Memorial Site
